After an awesome day spent on the Li River, surrounded by Guilin’s karst mountains, we went to Yangshuo, a vibrant city with a colorful atmosphere, a lively nightlife and with lots of cosy places to hang out. Yangshuo is susceptible to western influences and you’ll find much more foreign people than in other (smaller) Chinese cities we have visited. So after a week of eating mantou, rice and dumplings, finding a hot dog stand run by a German girl was a nice change. In the evening, we attended the Sanjie Liu Light Show, a performance which uses the Li River as its stage, with the karst mountains in the background. This unique and beautiful experience is definitely worth a visit!
We had booked a room with an awesome view over the city, against the backdrop of the karst mountains. Waking up with this kind of panoramic view is just priceless. In the morning we had some more time to explore this nice town before we left for Guilin city.
