When thinking about black sand beaches, the first places that come to mind are probably Hawaii or Iceland. But did you know that Bali has some beautiful black sand beaches of its own as well? The island’s entire south coast is known for its darker coastlines, but there’s one place in particular that stands out. Pasut Beach or Pantai Pasut is known for its intense jet black sand and hundreds of palm trees. It has quickly become an Instagram favorite, especially thanks to the crooked palm tree that makes for an awesome picture.
Pasut Beach is also one of the few places where people are allowed to drive their scooters on the beach. While this must be fun for the people driving, it’s rather annoying for those who just want to relax.
How and When to Get to Pasut Beach
Pasut Beach is located a one hour drive from Canggu by scooter. As this can get a bit tiring after a while, we suggest stopping halfway at Tanah Lot. That’s what we did and it made for a perfect day trip from Berawa!
The best time to go to Pasut Beach is during the late afternoon. You’ll have plenty of time to take some shots in the small palm tree forest, climb that crooked tree, enjoy golden hour and get rewarded with an amazing sunset. The sunset on Pasut Beach was one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen, as the pink sky is perfectly reflected on the smooth black sand.
I personally wouldn’t go there to lay on the beach, as there is quite a lot of litter and the sand is so incredibly thin that it’s annoying. So yeah, we basically went there just to get some drone footage and cool pics.
